Rescued Horses

The following horses are a sampling of the animals that RCER has already adopted into permanent homes.

Twilight is a 3 year old Quarter Horse mare that came to RCER as an un-broke horse. She was started by a rescue member & her training has been going well. This is a very gentle natured mare and her new owners will continue her education. Twilight

Bandit,  an approx 17yr old Arab gelding. Impounded by law enforcement for starvation, he turned out to be a very nice horse, good to catch, great feet and good in the herd.

Bandit has found his forever home & now lives with a senior gelding & several cattle.

Lizzie is an 13 yr old mini that had been foundered in the past & had no regular farrier care. Her toes had become long and curled up. With the aid of a natural care farrier, she is now walking normally.

Lizzie has been adopted.

Fancy a 6 yr old Paint mare with a cut tongue. It proved to be an old injury that had caused this mare a lot of grievance in the past. Putting her in a hackamore solved the problem. Some behavior modification helped her settle into a pleasant riding horse.

Fancy, pictured with her new owners, has found her forever home.

Kahlua is a 11 to 12 year old TB/Paso Fino mare. This mare is very sensitive & very smart. She needs a rider that has soft hands and a quite demeanor. Kuhlua learns fast & remembers what her previous lesson was. Great on the trail

Kuhlua has found her permanent home.

Sierra, approx 15.1 hands, 12 yrs old. She is broke to ride, and has been used as a trail horse the past 2 years. She is gentle enough for a novice to ride, good to catch. She gets along well with other horses in the herd, but prefers another mare as a housemate. Sierra has been foundered in the past & requires regular foot care & weight management.
Sierra has been adopted into a home that is knowledgeable about natural hoof care.

Tame Jane A registered AQHA mare, DOB 4-1989. She has a lot of trail miles and is very nice to handle, has been given lessons on. Jane's sire is French Connection & out of a Van Moon/Catch Bar bred mare. She would be an excellence choice for a 4-H project. 15.1 hands tall. Jane is enjoying her new home in Canada Tame Jane

Little Bright Rox (Punkie) a registered 4 yr old, 14.3 hand Appaloosa gelding, friendly, wants to bond, easy to catch. Loves pattern work, willing. Been exposed to a cow cutter machine & cow sorting. Well started. Registration papers are available. This nice guy has found his permanent home.

Fanny is a nice older sound QH and possibly Mustang cross mare that was a former dude string horse.  This mare is nice to catch, loads like a dream, is very sensitive & smart. This mare really wants to bond to an affectionate person that is willing to spend a bit of time with her. Fanny is a very nice looking mare, approx 14.3+ hands tall. This mare has very good feet. She has found her forever home with some children that will learn to ride on her.

TJ A 12 year old Quarab gelding, about 15.1 hands, broke to ride, could turn into a nice horse with come further training. TJ has some herd bound issues & needs to work thru these. TJ is good to catch, loads ok, but is nervous while being hauled. TJ is good in the arena, a bit nervous on the trail when by himself, does well with another horse.
TJ has found a forever home as a 4H horse.

Rosa A bay approx 18 yr old TB mare, standing 16+ hands. This mare was impounded by law enforcement & has been extremely thin & emaciated this past year. She is gaining weight nicely, is easy to catch, and appears to be sound. Super nice to handle, this mare has had a lot of dressage training in the past, very sensitive to leg cues, needs an intermediate rider.
Update: In a home & being ridden regularly, this mare is special & so is her new home.

Hannah a 4-5 year old QH mare that had been part of a sheriff's impound. About 15.1 hands tall and a nice looking gal. Very thin when she came to RCER, she gained weight nicely and had been place in a home that has a lot of horse knowledge. She will live with a couple of molly mules while she is started under saddle.
Update Hannah is now being ridden on a regular basis & is turning into a super nice riding horse.

Rita an older Arab mare with a lot of get up and go. This gal does not show her age, is sound and cute. Rita has been placed into a home to be a companion horse for a gelding that was very lonely. The two of them hit it off quite well and Rita has found a place to spend the rest of her years.

Frodo is a very handsome 14 yr old Welsh gelding. He has a growth in this throat that limits him to light riding and weight control. Neck scoped by a veterinary to determine the care he requires to stay healthy and sound, he has been adopted into a new home & is bonding with his new owner. Thank you Desiree, for providing Frodo with a loving home.

Freedom's Lady a young mare that was abandoned out in the Yakima Canyon. She was starving, emaciated & scared, taking several weeks to capture. She was evaluated to have been mistreated in the past. Shown in the pictures with her new owner, Syndi, who has spent numerous hours gentling & teaching her to trust humans again. Free is learning that life really can by sweet, that the feed trough will always be full & that there is someone there who will make sure that she will always be cared for. Thank you Syndi, for adopting her. We know that the love and patience  you have shown to Free will be rewarded as this little mare demonstrates that she was well worth the effort.
Since May 2006, 97 equines, 1 goat & 1 bovine have been placed into new homes by RCER
