Rescued Horses

The following horses are a sampling of the animals that RCER has adopted into permanent homes.

Kody a yearling Paint Breeding Stock Colt. He was not halter broke when RCER took him in, but within a few days he was walking on lead and had his feet trimmed for the first time. Smart guy, inquisitive and playful. Was gelded and placed into his forever home.

Kody is doing well in his new home and has started his ground work training.

Appy Gelding, spotted red roan color, 16+ hands, approx age 19 or 20 years old. Found by USFS at the Salmon La Sac Cathedral trailhead. Red needs to gain some weight, is current on his worming and farrier work. He is a bit sore on his front left, but we think it may be from being ridden barefoot on rocky ground. Red has a cool personality.

Red, now called Red Spirit is happy and enjoying the good life in his new home in Ellensburg.

Nikki an approx 20 yr old paint mare that needed a new home. Nikki is a been there, done that type of girl, has a bit of arthritis in one front knee, but is sound for riding.

Nikki has found a home where she will be used as a trail horse. Gets along well with her stable mates.

Love R Bandit, a registered APHA gelding, 8 yrs old, gentle on the ground, but not broke to ride. Curious about things, but has no confidence about the human happenings that occur around him. Will become a nice riding horse for a person that has the knowledge to teach him. Started on ground work.

Bandit has found his forever home and has begun his formal training to become a riding horse. Shown here learning to pack a saddle.
Bandit is currently being trail ridden by his owner.

Hassey Hassey is a 27 year old reg Arab mare, very gentle, been around kids, great feet, good in the herd, pretty bay with 4 white socks & a star.
Update: a note from Hasseys new owner.

Well, here we are a week after Hassey came into our lives.  I want to assure you that she is my dream horse. Hassey is such a well behaved lady, a joy to care for.  She is perfect for the other rescue horse that we got the week before.  "PJ" has calmed down with her around.  He is learning to trust me because Hassey is so trusting.  They are so good together, it's hard to believe they weren't raised together. I am so thankful that you agreed to let me adopt Hassey. I just hope you know how lucky I feel to have found her.  You have done such a good job with rescuing these wonderful animals, I know you have HUGE hearts.

Naomi (Just The Timetoshine) is a registered APHA mare born in 2003. She stands 16+ hands, is a beautiful Black color.

Naomi is in her forever home and being ridden daily by an 11 yr old boy. She is traveling to game shows and teaching the young people what a wonderful girl she is.

Omega Play, a reg bay 3 yr old TB mare, standing 15.2 -15.3 hands. This mare has just come off the track, is sound, curious and a people horse. Maggie would make a nice dressage or arena horse. Very pretty mare, you may see her pedigree at
http://www.pedigreequery.com/omega+play

Maggie has found a forever home. She is becoming a great gaming mare for her new owner.

Nikki, a 20 year old Paint mare. She is easy to catch and gentle on the ground. A been there, done that type of gal. A great horse for someone to learn on. Nikki has a bit of arthritis in her front knee, cannot be used hard.

Nikki has found her permanent home with pasture mates and light riding.

Stretch is a tattooed TB gelding, his registered name is Ama Storm, 12 yrs old, sound, good feet with nice bone, Sorrel color, 16 hands tall. Curious, a people horse, always comes trotting up when he sees you. Stretch rides nice, very responsive to the bit. Appears to have had a lot of previous arena work. Papers are not available. Current on his vaccinations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work.

Stretch has found his forever home with people who love giving daily scratches (his favorite thing)

Gwen An 1 year old Paint Filly, not halter broke and thin when coming to RCER, she has turned onto a nice, quite little girl.

Gwen has found a forever home with some pasture mates and people that are teaching her that life is good. She is growing into a pretty girl, learning round pen work.

Rosa A bay approx 18 yr old TB mare, standing 16+ hands. This mare was impounded by law enforcement & has been extremely thin & emaciated this past year. She is gaining weight nicely, is easy to catch, and appears to be sound. Super nice to handle, this mare has had a lot of dressage training in the past, very sensitive to leg cues, needs an intermediate rider.
Update: In a home & being ridden regularly, this mare is special & so is her new home.

Hannah a 4-5 year old QH mare that had been part of a sheriff's impound. About 15.1 hands tall and a nice looking gal. Very thin when she came to RCER, she gained weight nicely and had been place in a home that has a lot of horse knowledge. She will live with a couple of molly mules while she is started under saddle.
Update Hannah is now being trail ridden on a regular basis & leads a pack string into the high country, is turning into a nice riding horse.

Tootling Ricochet a 19 year old reg APHA breeding stock mare & Bar No Expense (Zoey) a 12 yr old APHA mare on a trail ride with their new owners. They live next door to each other and take the girls riding on a regular basis.

Frodo is a very handsome 14 yr old Welsh gelding. He has a growth in this throat that limits him to light riding and weight control. Neck scoped by a veterinary to determine the care he requires to stay healthy and sound, he has been adopted into a new home & is bonding with his new owner. Thank you Desiree, for providing Frodo with a loving home.

Freedom's Lady a young mare that was abandoned out in the Yakima Canyon. She was starving, emaciated & scared, taking several weeks to capture. She was evaluated to have been mistreated in the past. Shown in the pictures with her new owner, Syndi, who has spent numerous hours gentling & teaching her to trust humans again. Free is learning that life really can by sweet, that the feed trough will always be full & that there is someone there who will make sure that she will always be cared for. Thank you Syndi, for adopting her. We know that the love and patience  you have shown to Free will be rewarded as this little mare demonstrates that she was well worth the effort.
Since May 2006, 136 equines, 1 goat & 1 bovine have been placed into new homes by RCER
