Rescued Horses

The following horses are a sampling of the animals that have been adopted into permanent homes.

Misty is a weanling Quarter Horse/Icelandic mix. A cute little gal, she will grow into a mid sized horse. Misty turned out to be gaited and has been adopted.

Hassey, is a registered 25 yr old Arab mare. She is kind and gentle,  a great kids horse, sound and nice to ride. She was on the thin side when she came to RCER, but after floating her teeth and worming, Hassey began gaining weight nicely.

Hassey has found her forever home
Drumo "Mo" is an 8 yr old retired TB racehorse whose former owner no longer had a use for him. This horse was saved from going to slaughter in California. A fellow foster home took him in, and Rodeo City Equine made the contacts and lined people up for the rescue.

Mo has been adopted and is now loved by a 13 yr old girl and her family.

Fancy a 6 yr old Paint mare with a cut tongue. It proved to be an old injury that had caused this mare a lot of grievance in the past. Putting her in a hackamore solved the problem. Some behavior modification helped her settle into a pleasant riding horse.

Fancy has now found her forever home in Ellensburg.

Angel is a very pretty 7 year old Quarab mare, bay with three socks, and a star and strip. Approximately 14.3 hands. She is gentle and broke to ride, but needed a knowledgeable rider with a light hand. We started her on supplements for a light case of asthma.

Angel has been adopted.

Zackary, a senior pony that is great with kids. Zack's feet were extremely overgrown and curled up at the toe. A farrier removed half of the length of his hoof and within a couple of weeks he was walking normal. He is now running about the pasture playing with his 2 new horse companions in his new home.
Baye an older sound riding mare, kind and gentle. Her owner became ill and was having difficultly caring for her. She is now in a new home and enjoys the company of a pony and another horse. Baye enjoys trail riding with her new owners.
Sierra is a yearling Quarab, currently turning a pretty gray color. She is very smart and had learned to avoid being haltered by her former owners. After 2 weeks of halter training, she has turned into a pocket pet. Sierra was adopted onto a new home during our 2nd annual Adoptathon.
Sunshine is a really pretty Quarter pony in her upper teens. She's a ball of fire that has been used for gaming. Sunshine wants to go to a home with a rider that is not intimidated. She is 13.3hh. Would make a great mount for an experienced youth or small adult. Sunshine has been adopted.

Sierra Mist, a 10 yr old red dun paint mare. she had been foundered. A nice riding mare, she required a home that would regulate her diet and exercise. Adopted by a family to be "Dad's" horse, Sierra Mist has proven to be a good mount for him and he is enjoying riding with his daughters.
Rose is a 15 yr old TB mare who is easy to catch and very friendly. She has had extensive jump training and works very nicely off of leg pressure. She is a hard keeper and does not with-stand our cold winters in Ellensburg very well. Seeking a new home in a warmer climate.

Rose has been adopted and now lives in western Washington.

Fanny May a 20 something QH mare that had been a former dude string horse. she was thin & needed her teeth floated. A note from her new owners
The mares first day with us & she is a part of our family!!! Six a.m. our daughter got up, (age 7) woke us up, & said we needed to go feed her horse.
They have renamed her Star. She is doing awesome and has gotten used to the cows wandering around. Sunday I think my daughter rode her about four times. Every few hours at least. She saddled just fine and does wonderful in the bridle.  Sunday evening I tied the lead rope around the saddle horn and gave my daughter the reins. She is just the gentlest horse and loves to follow us around the pasture when we are changing the water.
Cheyenne, a registered Quarter Horse mare, she had broken her coffin bone in a rear foot. As a former barrel horse, she had a lot of get up and go. She now resides in a home with a rider that enjoys her spirited nature and is ridden on a regular basis.
Banjo is a gelding in his upper teens, 15hh, black with 2 white socks and a blaze. He has been a dude ranch horse and was a movie star in his earlier years.

Banjo has been adopted by a wonderful family who will do light trail and arena work.

Mini Jenny & Wally Baby, a mini mule and her mini donkey pasture mate. Cute and friendly guys, they had been foundered in the past. Put on a diet of grass hay by their new owner, they are now slim and healthy. Their former owner had health problems that made if difficult for her to get outside to care for her beloved babies. She calls to check on them on a regular basis and has befriended the new owner.

Since May 2006, 41 equines & 1 bovine have been placed into new homes by RCER
